History of Policing
This class is taught during each academy as new recruits train to become San Jose Police Officers. It aims to make San Jose Police Officers better educated and more deeply connected with the people they serve.
Annual Major Awards Ceremony
The Foundation hosts, with the help of Sponsorships and Donors, the annual Major Awards Ceremony. This heartwarming event honors outstanding members of the San Jose Police Department and community members. Many inspiring stories are told of their bravery, heroism and personal generosity.
Scholarships
The Foundation provides scholarships to the children of sworn and non-sworn members of the San Jose Police Department. These scholarships help to ensure that the children of San Jose Police employees can pursue a career in criminal justice and higher education to achieve their dreams.
K9 Unit
The Foundation assists SJPD's K9 Unit to help keep our community safe. K9s are an asset to the police department and our community. They can keep officers safe and assist with searches.
Officer Wellness
The men and women of the San Jose Police Department face extraordinary challenges every day. The Foundation supports programs that promote the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of SJPD officers and their families — because a healthy department is a stronger department.
Emerging Department Needs
When an important need arises outside the City's regular police budget, the Foundation can help provide timely support. Donor funding helps SJPD obtain resources that serve officers and the San José community.
